The Hungarian National Assembly (Országgyűlés)

The Hungarian National Assembly has been actively participating in implementing EU assistance programmes since Hungary acceded to the European Union. The experiences for the parliamentary administration gained during the pre-accession process and during the first decade as an EU Member State national parliament enabled the administration of Országgyűlés to apply for involvement in parliamentary EU assistance projects. This special interparliamentary activity proved to be successful as the Hungarian National Assembly, and its parliamentary administration is one of the most active in this assistance area. Országgyűlés has been or is implementing either as a leading partner or as junior partner altogether 9 EU twinning and other technical assistance programmes. In the Western Balkans the Hungarian National Assembly had projects in Albania, Croatia, Kosovo (Under UNSCR 1244/99) and Macedonia, while in the wider South-East European region it had also capacity building activities in Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania and Turkey.

In the BiH parliamentary twinning programme Országgyűlés is the leading partner in the implementing consortium.
