Information seminar on the role of Parliaments in the EU integration process for House of Peoples and Cantonal Assemblies of the FBiH

The seminar took place on 16 December 2015. In the last phase of the Twinning Project it is important to approach Members of Parliaments with issues of their specific requests and interests. Due to the special constitutional structure of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina it is needed that MPs at all parliamentary level be familiar with their tasks in the EU integration process. Therefore this seminar was organized for the House of Peoples and the cantonal assemblies of the Federation to start engaging them in the process and especially to inform them about what this Twinning Project achieved for the state and entity level parliaments. The opening speech was held by Ms. Lidija Bradara, Speaker of the House of Peoples Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The seminar concentrated on the parliaments’ role in the EU integration process, especially covering their legislative tasks; the modules of parliamentary cooperation mechanism; and provided also an overview on the Twinning Project’s results.

The following topics were presented by the Twinning experts to the audience which was mainly composed of political and administrative leaders of the cantonal assemblies:

3.Recommendations of the Twinning Project on the cooperation mechanism for the Parliaments of Bosnia and Herzegovina

4.Recommendations of the Twinning Project for legislative and legal harmonisation tasks of the Parliaments in the EU integration process
